'Close Proximity' is a Sci-Fi, crew management game, where you have to handle the crews needs while also making sure they do their job so that the ship doesn't blow up'. This is the synopsis of the game given to us by the game designer, Connor Hasson. Myself, Dylan Crause, Riley Guerrin and Peter Jackson were approached by Connor earlier this Tri to take on the project. I have only previously worked on one game project before, so I am keen to research and learn some new sound design techniques!

Below is the asset list that Connor requires by the end of week 13:

For the above sample, I have found during research that this sound can be generated by layering jet engine sounds- both the engine starting and the engine winding down. These can both be duplicated and pitch shifted for tonal effects, then trial and error for the loudness of each track. Also in my sample library from previous trimesters, I have a particular sound of the echo of a tennis ball being bounced in a garage that we will use to also layer and filter into the warp sound that will help with the 'winding down' of the warp engine.

We have an extensive sound library through Kontact and Komplete at home and intend to manipulate some of the library sounds to get these smaller samples completed.

Creating the backing tracks will be the most difficult/ time consuming part of this task. We want the main theme track to be a dark/looming/ominous sound, choosing the right synth and chord progression is important.

This project will carry onto next trimester for the students involved as it is Connors final piece for CIU. We have a lot of time to get these sounds ready for him but we intend to have a large majority completed, if not all, by end of Tri. I am eager to have Connor look at the samples we have created and improve/cnontinue work on them as needed!
